About

Meet Mortimer Quill

Good evening. My name is Mortimer, and I am your narrator. I am a professional. I have read the same fairy tale aloud four hundred times without incident. I have a nice voice, a reliable coat and a firm belief that words should stay where the author put them.

Then somebody gave the reader cards.

I now spend my evenings explaining to an audience why the dragon is a bishop, why the princess is a pie, and why the goose has been made Lord Chancellor. I do this with dignity. Mostly. I have been asked to tell you that I enjoy it. I have been asked very firmly.

When I am not narrating I can be found in the index, lying down.

About the game

Plotjack is a storybook game about changing the words on the page. Each book is written to be played straight, so that your changes have something to push against. The art is cut paper, the narration is voiced, and the whole thing runs in a browser, free, on whatever you have.

An earlier, darker version of Plotjack, with a different narrator, still lives at v1.plotjack.dev.
